The All-New Sonata’s Top Tech Features
When it hits the market in the fall, the fully-redesigned 2020 Hyundai Sonata will have no problem wowing the crowds. With enough tech features to rival luxury models, this sedan is fit to steal the show, especially considering its affordable price point. You will marvel in how well those features revitalize your drives and get you excited about hitting the road each day. So, come take a look at what this mid-size sedan has up its sleeve and get ready to greet your new favorite ride.
New to this model year, and only on the Sonata, is the Hyundai Digital Key. This innovative tech allows you to use your Android smartphone, rather than a smart key, to interface with your car. You will also receive an NFC card for use by your valet, service technician, or when your phone just won’t do.
By holding your phone or the card against the door handle, you can unlock and lock the doors in an instant. Then, once you get comfortable in your seat, you just have to slip your phone in the wireless charger and hit the start button to head out.
Through the app, you can even provide up to three other people with access to your car using their own phones. The system will save all your presets and activate them when you use the car, along with the presets of your other saved drivers.
Remote Smart Park
If you have ever needed to make slight adjustments to your parking job after leaving your vehicle, you will love the Sonata’s remote smart park system. This feature lets you maneuver your vehicle forward and backward from up to 10 feet away from your car using the key fob alone. You simply hold the activation button to turn on the smart park system, adjust the wheels, and make your move to perfect your position.
Since it operates fairly seamlessly, smart park also works well to maneuver your car in and out of tight parking spots. You can trust that the sensors all around the car will assist in avoiding obstacles as you put your car right where you want it. If it detects anything in the way, the system will halt the vehicle and allow you to adjust its path to keep it looking as great as the day you bought it.
To keep you well informed on all your travels, the 2020 Hyundai Sonata comes with three high-tech LCD displays. Although this might seem like a lot, you will soon find out that you would rather not live without any of them ever again.
The digital dash acts as the main display, showing the vehicle’s speed, fuel gauge, and more. Through this screen, you can also make changes to the advanced smart cruise control feature and other safety systems. With an image as your guide, you can set the following distance, speed, and other settings to customize its assistance to your needs.
At the center of the dash is the 10.5” ultra-wide infotainment screen, which shows up to three apps at a time. To switch between them, you just have to swipe to the side for a full-screen display of the information. Within this screen, you will find navigation, radio, weather, and many other apps that allow you to make the most of your drive.
Head Up Display
The head up display, or HUD, keeps your eyes on the road at all times by displaying key information on your windshield. Initially, this screen shows your traveling speed, though it changes as you activate all your favorite features. As you use navigation or cruise control, for example, the HUD widens to provide the details you need at a glance.
Advanced Smart Cruise Control and Steering Assistance
The advanced smart cruise control and steering assistance features work together to pilot your vehicle without much input from you. Using your personalized settings, the cruise control system automatically hits the gas and brakes to keep you the specified distance from the car ahead. And it can even bring the vehicle to a complete stop. While it works, the vehicle shows your position on the HUD and digital dash, where you can make changes on the fly as needed.
Steering assistance works in tandem to keep your sedan centered between the lines and a safe distance away from all obstacles. Through the cameras, the vehicle monitors the position of your vehicle in its lane and automatically makes changes as needed. All you have to do is keep your hands on the wheel and eyes ahead to intervene if the situation demands manual maneuvers.
With all these high-tech features on your side, you will quickly forget you did not spend the big bucks on a luxury sedan. Despite its affordable price point, the 2020 Hyundai Sonata easily holds its own in ensuring you enjoy all your travels and feel pampered mile after mile.
